Do You Know the Difference Between Raw Lumens vs. Effective Lumens?

图片
LED lamp output values (Lumens) can vary dramatically depending on which values are being quoted. The following information may assist in selecting the right product for the right application. Raw Lumens This is a measure of the theoretical output of a light. Raw Lumen output is calculated by multiplying by the theoretical rated output of the LEDs by the number of LEDs in the lamp. Example: 8 LEDs rated at 100 Lumens per watt 8 x 100 = 800 Raw Lumens Effective Lumens This is a measure of the actual output of a light. The Effective Lumen output takes into consideration electrical and real world losses (ex. thermal, optical, and assembly), so it is a better representation of the useful visible light that is actually produced. Example: Raw Lumens = 800 Thermal, Optical & Assembly Losses = 40% (of Raw Lumens) 800 – 320 = 480 Effective Lumens What do you mean by Thermal Losses, Optical Losses and Assembly Losses? There are inherent losses associated with any lamp

Lighting the Way: Headlight Tech Explained

Lasers, projectors, LEDs. No, this isn’t some party planner's material list, but the headlight technology that has been advancing at a rapid rate and is finding place on our cars. And, it's getting more and more difficult to cut through the jargon; LEDs, halogens, projectors, xenons. So, what do they mean? What are halogens? A halogen bulb is similar to an electric bulb found in any household. But while your regular bulb has a filament (small wire) that heats up and emits light, the halogen lamp uses halogen gas to increase brightness. These bulbs aren’t very efficient, as most of the energy is wasted in heat instead of light. Halogen bulbs used in automobiles typically emit a yellowish light and despite the technology being over 50 years old, it is widely used. In terms of brightness, halogen lamps have a throw of about 100 metres. What are xenon headlights? Also referred to as HID (high-intensity discharge), xenon lamps are similar to the ubiquitous tube light. There is

Top 10 Reasons to Choose LED Headlights for Your Car

图片
Recently, LED headlights have become increasingly popular because of visibility, rugged durability, longevity , they are more advantages than the bulb lights. Please see the below 10 reasons before you buy LED headlights. 1. MORE DURABLE LEDs utilize solid-state construction—meaning that there are no breakable bulbs, fragile filaments, or sensitive electrodes like those found in incandescent, halogen, or HID lighting. For this reason, LEDs are the perfect choice for vehicle applications where bumps, curves and pot holes would cause traditional headlights to prematurely fail. 2. LESS EMI HID headlights have the unfortunate tendency to produce electromagnetic interference (EMI)- causing a variety of complications for OEM and aftermarket customers alike. A properly designed LED headlight, on the other hand, will be much “quieter” from an EMI perspective. At J.W. Speaker, we design our lights to meet ECE Reg. 10, SAE 1455, CISPR 22 & 25, military standards, and/or special customer req

Top 10 LED Chips You Should Consider for your LED Lighting Fixture

图片
While designing and producing an LED light fixture, selecting the best-LED chip and the best-led driver is on the top of the designer list.  In this article, we will focus on the top 10 LED chip manufacturers/brands that any lighting manufacturer should put in consideration when they choose their product component. One of the most important factors is the selection of the LED Chip brand.  There are hundreds of LED chip manufacturers in the world, offering lighting-class LED chips that deliver high luminous efficacy, brightness, colour temperature and lifetime required for general illumination for general lighting applications, e.g. roadways, parking area lights, and indoor directional lighting applications. Below are the world’s top 10 LED chips you can consider using in your LED luminaries. 1.CREE Manufactured in the USA, CREE is one of the leading LED chip brands in the world with SMD LED chips ranging from 0.1W up to 5W and COB from 5W up to 200W. CREE manufacture LEDs

What Are The Differences Between HID And LED Headlights For Your Car?

图片
Even though halogen headlights have been the norm since the car was invented, they have been slowly replaced by HID headlights over the last two decades. In fact, even HID headlights are being replaced by LED headlights since the recent past. With the latest improvements in LED technology, they are becoming the new standard for headlights in the automobile industry. HID and LED headlights have their own advantages and disadvantages. That is why you should be careful when choosing the best headlight kit for your car.  LED lights have many advantages over HID lights. But they are more expensive than the latter.  HID Headlights High-intensity discharge or HID headlights are also referred to as xenon lights. The chamber of the bulb contains xenon gas. In fact, there are two tungsten electrodes and an arc between these electrodes. Xenon lights are twice as efficient compared to halogen lights and provide a much brighter and whiter light compared to halogen bulbs.

Left Hand Drive Vs Right Hand Drive: The Reasons Behind The Differences

图片
Traveling from one country to another comes with a bundle of surprises – new culture, new people, different food, cultural shocks, and many more. Another thing that could be included in this package is the  driving rules  – especially to those visiting from a right-hand driving country to a left-hand driving ( LHD vs RHD ) country or vice versa. Left-hand drive vs right-hand drive is a dilemma that many people cannot wrap their head around. Some facts about Left Hand Drive vs Right Hand Drive Approximately 35% of the world population drives on the left. The countries that follow the  left hand drive  rule are mostly old British colonies. It will be a tad shocking for anyone when they visit a country like England, Bangladesh, or  Japan  from one of the 75% of the countries that adhere to the  right hand drive According to one study, the incidence of accidents in countries with lower left-hand driving laws is lower than that of the right-hand drive countries. In Africa, Mozambique –
